SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse today named Team 24/7 Lacrosse of Charlotte, N.C., and Buku Lacrosse of Costa Mesa, Calif., as event owner-operators participating in the pilot phase of the US Lacrosse tournament sanctioning program. The sport’s national governing body announced the elevation of Broward Lacrosse Advantage, Inc., of Davie, Fla., from a pilot participant to a full partner in the program.
The US Lacrosse tournament sanctioning program represents an initiative to raise the quality of the youth tournament experience and publicize events that meet operational criteria developed by US Lacrosse and industry experts.
“We are excited to welcome Team 24/7 Lacrosse and Buku Lacrosse to the long list of tournament operators that share our vision of improving the youth lacrosse experience, and certainly applaud Broward Lacrosse for moving up from the pilot phase,” Robin Baxter, director of club accounts and sanctioning at US Lacrosse, said.
Team 24/7 operates the Southeast Summer Invitational for boys June 15-17 in Charlotte, N.C. Buku runs two tournaments for boys and girls, both in Costa Mesa: Battle at the Beach July 7-8 and War on the Shore Dec. 8-9. Broward operates the Gold Coast Shootout for boys and girls’ teams Oct. 20-21 in Plantation, Fla.
Sanctioned tournaments have been deemed by the sport’s national governing body to meet best-practice standards in five categories: venue, game format, risk management, tournament administration, and certified US Lacrosse officials. The pilot phase represents a one-year transition period to full tournament sanctioning by US Lacrosse.
